Overview
The WELCOME TO PARADISE sign at the entrance to Cawston Camp says it all. This 32,000 acre intimate family run ranch is owned by 3rd and 4th generation Zimbabweans who have been running safaris for over 40 years with a focus on client care.
The Camp is set in the shade of a riverine forest over looking over a busy waterhole. Bushbuck, warthog, and the occasional kudu graze the lawns between the Great Hall, swimming pool and the five comfortable ‘Meru’ style en-suite tents. The friendly and well-trained team of staff will look after your every need and provide delicious home-cooked fare.
The property is malaria free and the camp is small thus catering expertly to small groups and families wanting the space for children to explore, make noise and truly enjoy their holiday!
As well as having the largest private herd of sable in Zimbabwe, large herds of giraffe, zebra, impala, kudu, eland and wildebeest can be seen from vehicle or foot. Less common antelope such as tsessebe and red hartebeest also live here. Track nocturnal animals and enjoy an evening visit to the waterhole blinds for a chance to see them.
Vervet monkeys are frequently seen, with resident populations of leopard, serval, civet, black backed jackal, porcupine, honey badgers and the shy brown hyena. Even elephants, wild dogs and cheetahs are migratory visitors. The birdlife is excellent with 220 species recorded so far!
