Overview
Established in 1985, prior to that, Mr. Hopgood, the grandson of an established flower growing family, would sell and market his flowers during school holidays for extra pocket money down on African Unity Square Andrew Thompson, also the son of an established flower grower would sell some of his flowers to Mark Hopgood. In years to come, together, they would sell to florists and hotels across the country in competition with each other but always talking. As more competition came into the flower business from other growers Mark and Andrew decided to market their flowers together as one unit, thus giving the customers a better range from one source as well as the logistics of moving small volumes of flowers. The first combined outlet was at 99 Jason Moyo Avenue under the control of Mrs. Irene Frost, Mark’s mother-in-law. A name for the venture was eventually agreed upon and ‘Floribunda Flowers’ was born. Floribunda only became a registered company when it moved to its present position at Shop 1, Old Municipal Market in Eastlea, Harare, Zimbabwe. Today Floribunda is ‘the-go-to-place’ for fresh cut flowers direct from the farm to the shop floor and available to the public. With a wide variety from the top two producers in Zimbabwe, Floribunda is able to offer beautiful flowers and fillers all year long
